Srinagar, Oct 27 (KNO): J&K Bank on Tuesday launched Vigilance Awareness Week 2026 at its Corporate Headquarters, with Executive Director Sudhir Gupta administering the Integrity Pledge to senior officials and employees to promote transparency, accountability and ethical banking.
In a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), a bank spokesperson said the observance is being held under the theme “Probity for Prosperity”.
The spokesperson said Executive Director Sudhir Gupta chaired the inaugural function and administered the pledge to the bank’s leadership, including Chief General Managers, General Managers, Deputy General Managers, Assistant General Managers and other senior officers present on the occasion.
Divisional, Zonal and Cluster heads, along with other staff members, also participated in the ceremony virtually.
Speaking on the occasion, Gupta said public trust was the foundation of banking and integrity was essential to preserving it. “Public trust is the foundation of banking, and integrity is essential to preserving that trust as we grow. Our pursuit of sustainable growth must be supported by transparent processes, fair decisions and accountability at every level,” he said.
“Preventive vigilance must be part of our everyday work. Every employee has a responsibility to safeguard the Bank’s resources, protect customers’ interests and ensure that our conduct reflects the confidence people place in us. Let this pledge translate into consistent action throughout the year,” he added.
The spokesperson said participants pledged to promote ethical business practices, refrain from offering or accepting bribes, and uphold corporate governance based on transparency, accountability and fairness.
The pledge also stressed adherence to relevant laws and compliance mechanisms, awareness of ethical responsibilities, grievance redressal and whistle-blower mechanisms for reporting fraudulent activities, besides protecting the rights and interests of stakeholders and society at large.
Earlier, Chief Vigilance Officer Bansi Lal Saini stressed that building an organisation-wide culture of vigilance depended on the everyday decisions of employees. He said such actions were vital to strengthening stakeholder trust and urged participants to follow three core principles: remain alert, take responsibility for their actions and speak up when something goes wrong.
The function concluded with a vote of thanks by General Manager (Vigilance) Hafeeza Rahim. “Our pledge must guide us throughout the year. By doing our work honestly and responsibly, we serve our customers better, protect our Bank and contribute meaningfully to its continued progress,” she said.
Outlining the activities planned during the week, Rahim said the Integrity Pledge would reinforce individual commitment, while an online quiz and essay competition would deepen awareness, help identify knowledge gaps and encourage ideas to improve ethical practices in the workplace.—(KNO)
